What is 地质?

地质 is the scientific study of the Earth, including the materials that it is made of, the physical and chemical processes that occur on its surface and in its interior, and the 历史 of the planet and its life forms. 地质 also relates to human endeavors and needs, including the use of natural resources, the preservation of the environment, 全球变化, and the mitigation of geologic hazards.

What will I learn?

Students learn about Earth’s composition, 结构, 历史, processes that shape Earth’s surface, and the operation and interactions among Earth’s systems. 此外, students explore practical matters such as resource exploration, 提取, and management, as well as hazard mitigation.

What’s special about 地质?

Geologists solve real world problems. If you’re interested in the natural world and in giving back to your community, then solving geological problems is a great way to do that.

What can I do with this course of study?

Students who are interested in geology will often transfer into a bachelor’s degree program to continue their studies to further prepare for a career in the field.

Geologists work in the future of energy production, carbon capture and storage, geothermal energy, mining and mineral resources, 水文地质, environmental protection, climate change, extra-terrestrial planetary exploration, 历史 of life on Earth, 和更多的.
